New England Family Friendly Vacations
Some of the most enthusiastic guests of The BALSAMS are children. There is always so much to do, and so many new experiences to try. Our entire resort's New Hampshire child entertainment environment is safe and very well attended, yet encouraging for children to explore new adventures and feel a genuine sense of freedom.
Under the direction of a professional supervisor, the recreation staff organizes activities that offer a taste of New England for kids and are appropriate for youth and family participation. Camp Wind Whistle is a summertime favorite for our little guests ages 5 to 10+. The professionally managed program operates from breakfast through dinner, seven days a week throughout the summer season. All guest campers participate within peer groups and follow exciting daily schedules of age-appropriate activities.
The fun continues in winter with skating parties, broomball games, skiing instruction and more. Children not wishing to participate in an organized program or event are free to use sports, recreational, and entertainment facilities with appropriate levels of adult supervision.
Nursery
From December through March, a well-equipped play area in the Alpine Base Lodge welcomes children who are no longer in diapers. Children may enjoy a variety of age-appropriate games, crafts and activities while parents experience a full day of alpine or cross-country skiing. Limited space available daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Babysitting
Available by request through the manager of activities with 48 hours advance notice. Care and consideration are used to match the most appropriate available sitter with each request. Rates are $9 per hour plus and $1 more per child. Mimimum payment of $20 is expected. A cash payment is required to pay for services is expected at the end of the shift. A babysitting brochure is also available.
